Director IDs: The ASIC Clean-Up Is Coming. Are You Ready?

A simple compliance check today could save you time, stress and unnecessary costs tomorrow.

Many business owners treat ASIC records as something that only needs attention during their annual review process. However, upcoming changes to director identification number (director ID) reporting mean now is the ideal time to make sure your company information is accurate and up to date.

From 1 July 2027, companies will be required to report the director ID of every director through existing ASIC reporting channels, including annual reviews and notifications of changes to director details. By 30 June 2028, ASIC's company register and the director ID register will effectively be reconciled for all companies.

While this may sound like a routine administrative update, it has the potential to uncover discrepancies that have gone unnoticed for years.

Get Ahead While There Is Time

The good news is there is still plenty of time to prepare.

Addressing inaccuracies today is generally a straightforward process. Waiting until annual review deadlines approach may create unnecessary pressure, delays and additional costs.

A proactive review now can provide confidence that your records are complete, accurate and ready for the upcoming changes.

If we act as your ASIC agent, we'll be working through these requirements with our clients over the coming year. If not, and you're unsure where to start, our team can help you review your records and identify any issues before they become a problem.

Think Beyond Today's Tax Outcome
